Founded in 2001, at Calvert Consulting I have been providing clients in and around the Portsmouth area with guidance on common law matters and other surveying services. I have years of experience within the industry and am a specialist in Rights of Way and boundary matters, including boundary demarcation. Having been giving advice since 1991, you can rest assured that any advice or guidance provided by myself is of the highest standard.

I am an Honorary Research Associate at UCL and a Visiting Lecturer for École Supérieure des Géomètres et Topographes (ESGT) in Le Mans.

Academic writing is something I am passionate about and I write a legal column for Geomatics World. Alongside this, I have an MSc in Geodesy from the University of Oxford and an MA in Law and CPE with commendation from Bournemouth University.

About Boundary Demarcation

Having issues with boundaries and rights of way are incredibly common for both homeowners and businesses. The Land Registry do not define land or property boundaries. Instead, they are expected by law to visualise the outstanding boundary line. Regulations stipulate that they must use the ordinance survey when defining areas on maps.

Understanding what a boundary is can help you to determine where demarcations need to be made. These are usually created when an area of land is split up into small plots and these plots are owned by different owners. Boundaries are there to establish the differences between areas, ensuring that there are no disputes. However, these lines are not fixed and can be altered over time.
